Having years of experience through SuperPros parent company Fulcrum Suspensions. SuperPro became awarethat there was a need for a better alignment solutions. Including bushings, sway bars, control arms and other suspension components. Based on this all SuperPro products have been designed with alignment in mind. Each of our suspension products have been designed, engineered and manufactured in Australia with the sole purpose of giving you the correct suspension alignment, improving your vehicles overall traction and handling. Giving you the best possible drive on road off road or on the track.

Vehicle alignment is a complex process; which is why SuperPro provides tailored alignment corrections for:

  • Caster
  • Camber
  • Included Angle
  • Thrust Angle
  • Toe-In-and-Toe-Out

The Issue

It frequently occurs that a car's wheels have been aligned by everybody in town, but the customer still complains about its pull to the left, even though it has been aligned within the manufacturers specifications to drive straight.

Sometimes the manufacturing specifications are not sufficient:

Many vehicles are originally designed for the steering wheel to sit on the other side of the car, which means the factory camber is misaligned from the outset. Slight pulls would  manifests itself over time with the onset of wear.

Caster

A vehicles caster angle is not universally understood. It is a non-tyre wearing angle which has a substantial effect on a vehicles ability to track straight and other handling characteristics. The following scenarios are intended to help demystify caster and highlight how a simple caster change to one or both sides of a vehicle can have dramatic effect on how the vehicle drives.

1. Slight pull to the left can be corrected with a Single Offset SuperPro bush kit. Supplied with an offset bush to be fitted to the passenger side and a standard bush for the drivers side, these kits stagger the caster by repositioning the left ball joint slightly forward in the chassis. Master-Caster-1
2. A strong pull to the left can be overcome by installing a SuperPro Extra Offset kit. One offset bush is fitted to passenger side to increase caster and one is fitted to the drivers side to decrease caster. A greater amount of caster stagger addresses a stronger left pull sometimes opposing the stagger built in by the vehicle manufacture for a vehicle designed to be left hand drive. Master-Caster-2

3. Where no pull is evident but handling performance is desired a Double Offset SuperPro bush kit is used to deliver positive caster to both sides. The vehicle will have improved directional stability, crisper, more responsive steering and improved return to centre feel.

Master-Class-3

SuperPro provides a vast array of products to assist in adjusting the vehicle's caster angle for eccentric or offset suspension styles.

SuperPro bushings offer the technician three options for wheel alignments:SPF3024XK

1.           Standard replacement

This kit contains two replacement SuperPro bushings, designed with a minimum of noise vibration harshness. SuperPro design innovation helps to get a part with a long service life while delivering improved and positive handling and control.

2.           1 x Standard bushing & 1 x Offset bushing kit;

A kit with one replacement bushing and one eccentric bushing, both with SuperPro design innovation. This allows the alignment technician to increase caster on one side of a vehicle and keep the other side standard.

3.           2 x Offset bushing kit for caster adjust;

This kit offers the alignment technician extra adjustment to change caster on both sides of the vehicle. Or, allowing the enthusiast driver to have an increase in caster on both sides of the vehicle for better performance on the track or for club motorsport work.

Toe-Align

Toe-In and Toe-Out

When the front of the wheels are closer to each other than the back of the wheels, it is called toe-in. When the front of the wheels are farther apart than the back of the wheels, this is referred to as toe-out (see diagram).

Neither is considered good. If the wheels are parallel to each other, then there is zero toe. An incorrect toe-in will cause rapid tire wear to both tires equally in a featherlike fashion. Toe adjustment can be done on the front wheels and sometimes on the rear wheels.

For 4x4's

trc540

The modern trend to fit accessories, larger tyres & rims and suspension lift kits to modern 4x4 has exposed the lack of camber and, particularly, caster adjustment required to return the suspension geometry to OEM settings. This leads to undesirable handling and driveability issues like wandering all over the road, uneven and premature tyre wear along with the steering wheel vibrations.

The new Lift-Align Arms from SuperPro Roll Control are manufactured from high-stress, cold formed steel tube with an adjustable position ball joint and are fitted with SuperPro bushes.

An improvement on the factory standard

The resulting movements from misaligned suspension can make vehicles unstable under braking, accelerating and cornering while contributing to excessive tyre wear.  Equally, the standard alignment settings any modern vehicles may appear within factory tolerance, but this tolerance is broad and unflexible; resulting in high tyre wear.

Replacing with SuperPro bushings and parts rectifies this by the removal of excess compliance in the suspension system without affecting NVH (Noise Vibration and Harshness).SuperPro were driven to provide a solution for the lack of available adjustments and the specific alignment settings required for off-road, performance or high mileage commercial vehicles. The results can be experienced through our ever-growing range for alignment correction.
