TRC1016 Tech Update

TRC1016 Product Update

79 Series Landcruiser

 

The 2016 onwards 79 series Landcruiser has had numerous changes to accommodate improvements required to increase the ANCAP rating.

Among these changes, the new model has different radius arms and different mounting positions. We believe this is a change across all models.

If this is the case, our TRC1016 kits will not fit this model due the change in mounting points.

We are working on a solution for this model, but currently, TRC1016 kits will not work with this vehicle.

The SuperPro Lift Correction Arms incorporate Polyelast® Blade Technology and have been developed using sophisticated Finite Element Analysis programming, used extensively in the OE environment, along with a

rigorous testing regime both in the lab and in the field. The combination of a 20% increase in sectional properties combined with the use of OE grade High Strength, High Toughness Australian steel, the result is an arm

of comparable weight to the original radius arm, with increased strength, built for all on road and off-road conditions.

Why be concerned about Castor?

It should be common knowledge by now that raising a vehicle washes off castor. The effects of decreased castor are a loss of straight line stability, vague steering at higher speeds and can cause castor shimmy. The

SuperPro Lift Correction Arm Kit solves the issues with “built in” castor correction in the design, with nearly 4 Degrees for a 50mm lift and 2.5 Degrees for a 75mm lift. These Radius Arms have been designed with castor

correction to only suit raised vehicles. The design uses concentric bushings with advantages such as durability, comfort and increased articulation over non-centrally located bushings.

 

 

Why deliver more Articulation?

Articulation is critical to maintain tyre contact and keeping the cabin stable in rough road and off road scenarios. Articulation is the ‘hanging point’ for many aftermarket Radius arms, which continue to use the OE

bushings or inferior replacement rubber alternatives. The SuperPro Radius Arm Bushings utilises the Polyelast material and offers superior articulation by redefining the form and function of the bushing in this location. By

redesigning the profile of the bushing and creating a pocket for the Polyelast material to flow, a higher articulating bush with far greater durability has been created. The addition of a larger inner tube has led to a more

robust part for high speed highway stability and off road ruggedness without compromising NVH.

 

 

 

Why be concerned about un-sprung weight?

When it comes to a radius arm and vehicle suspension, unsprung weight is a critical factor. It affects not only ride and comfort but the dynamic system dampening and harshness. Vehicle Manufacturers spend a

significant amount of time tuning vehicle suspension systems to ensure resonant frequencies are mitigated and tyre to road contact is maximised in all conditions, altering the unsprung mass of components has potential

to compromise this.   The SuperPro Lift Correction Arm retains the OE design intent by providing an equally weighted arm. Solid section radius arms may well be rugged for the extremist 4x4 user, but the extra weight

does cause concerns and adds stress to other suspension components. This can be an issue on heavily corrugated roads where the extra unsprung mass generates more energy that has to be absorbed by the shock

absorbers, add to this, a set of bigger, heavier wheels and tyres and this issue is further exacerbated. With advances in materials and engineering designs, a smarter hollow section option exists today over the “old

school” solid design.

 

 

Now there is no reason to compromise on road handling for off road performance and durability.

By utilising up to the minute modern design techniques and a desire to make the good even better, SuperPro have made some impressive changes to these arms.

Previously made from steel tube welded to a forged steel ball joint plate, the new arms utilise the O.E manufacturing style with a twist.

Firstly, a one piece pressed steel arm is made, then a flat steel internal section is robotically welded inside the pressing. This manufacturing approach results in an unbreakable product.

While looking every bit like an O.E arm, but with unrivalled durability and toughness built in.

Add to this suspension geometry changes built into the shape of the arm, along with a neutral ball joint position on a lifted vehicle to maximise ball joint articulation.

We all know that when these 4WDs are lifted they run out of Camber and Caster adjustment or have none at all. The Lift Align Arms are a product that will provide the solution, a complete replacement arm that gives camber and caster adjustment in one product!

This provides better handling, steering and traction, on and off road.

The trend to fit accessories, larger tyres & rims and suspension lift kits to the modern 4 X 4 has exposed the lack of any real O.E camber or caster adjustment. Left unresolved this leads to undesirable handling issues and premature tyre wear.

The new SuperPro Lift-Align Arms provide the widest range of camber and caster adjustment available, ensuring that whatever the circumstance, the geometry of the front suspension will not be compromised.

So what does this mean? Finally an arm solution that is purpose built for Aussie Lifted 4WDs, built tough and made locally to suit Australian conditions.

SuperPro engineers recently received service information regarding a failure of the front suspension bushing on this vehicle.

The O.E Original bushing is fluid filled for comfort however, the vehicle in Australian conditions is generally used in commercial applications on rough roads. Using our superior in house technology, time to market has been swift and we can now announce a new SuperPro part release allowing the highest users of this vehicle, fleets to have an economical repair to save down time.

As these vehicles are predominantly used as commercial vehicles carrying high loads, all this excessive movement causes handling, braking and tyre wear issues.

The O.E replacement option is only available genuine with the complete arm and is not a dealer stocked part. So what does this mean, it means the vehicle owner has to either have the vehicle off the road for a stretch or drive around with a failed part, not anymore!

The SuperPro bushing kit SPF4774K is the perfect solution, durable, cost effective and available!
